In July 2003, SGI and partners announced a world record in backup and restore performance--over 10TB per hour using an SGI® Origin® server, Legato NetWorker, and a StorageTek® tape library with 48 tape drives. This result proves that SGI® InfiniteStorage solutions can scale to meet your backup needs no matter how large your data store. This record was set using commonly available components. This means that you can work with SGI and its partners to flexibly meet your backup requirements no matter how large or small at an appropriate price/performance point.

Legato NetWorker
Legato NetWorker provides backup and archive storage management services for heterogeneous system networks. It reliably protects all local and network data, including extended file attributes such as security information, user profiles, and access-control lists. Whether your workgroup is large or small, NetWorker® can be configured to meet your needs.

Legato NetWorker is a highly scalable, full-featured storage management tool for data backup and recovery. Use NetWorker to back up data on all your SGI servers, or use the servers' enormous I/O capabilities to manage backups for all your network workstations and file servers. NetWorker provides network backup support for all major UNIX® systems, PC desktops, NetWare® servers, Windows NT® systems, and Apple® Macintosh® systems.

NetWorker is archive-ready. With the archive option, NetWorker delivers data archival and retrieval services to networked clients.

VERITAS NetBackup
Veritas NetBackup provides enterprise backup and recovery for organizations that require a high-speed, flexible, and easily managed solution.
